Habanero video poker: formats and rules

The studio has released a series of video poker games with classic mechanics: the player receives five cards, chooses which to keep, and the rest are replaced with new ones. Payouts are awarded for poker combinations according to the paytable. The collection features six variants with different hand-forming rules.

Jacks or Better 1 Hand is the basic format, where the minimum winning combination starts with a pair of jacks. Deuces Wild 1 Hand uses deuces as wild cards, substituting for any other card. Joker Poker 1 Hand adds a joker to the deck, which also acts as a wild. In Double Double Bonus Poker 1 Hand and Bonus Poker 1 Hand, enhanced payouts are provided for certain combinations with aces or low cards. Aces & Eights 1 Hand focuses on specific four-of-a-kinds.

How to choose a game from the catalogue

The choice depends on which strategy you want to practise. Jacks or Better is suitable for learning the basic principles of video poker: the paytable here is the simplest, decisions are intuitive. Versions with wild cards — Deuces Wild and Joker Poker — complicate the calculation but expand opportunities for strong hands. Bonus variants require knowledge of the paytable: some combinations pay more than in the standard format, which affects the optimal card-holding strategy.

RTP in video poker depends on the paytable and may differ across operators. Check the exact return value in the game rules at the casino — it is stated in the Paytable or Info section. Video poker volatility is usually medium or high: payouts for strong hands (flush, full house, four of a kind) compensate for losses on weak deals.

Demo mode: how to try without a deposit

All Habanero games from our catalogue are available in demo version on this page. Click 'Play demo' below the game preview — a version with virtual credits will load, without registration or topping up your account. Demo works with the same mechanics and paytable as the real-money version, but without financial risk.

In Ukraine, demo mode is especially convenient for those who want to learn the rules and test a strategy before playing for money. The virtual balance refreshes when you reload the page, so you can try different approaches to holding cards and compare results.

Playing for money: where to find Habanero

Habanero video poker is featured in online casinos with offshore licences from Curaçao and Anjouan. You can compare operator terms, bonuses and deposit methods in the casino rating on our site. Please note: casinos from the rating operate under foreign licences, without authorisation from the Ukrainian regulator PlayCity.

Before your first bet, study the paytable of the specific game at your chosen casino — versions of the same video poker may differ in return percentage. Playing at online casinos in Ukraine is only permitted from the age of 21. Use self-limitation functions through the Diia app or casino account settings if you feel you are losing control over time or bet amounts.

Responsible gaming

Video poker requires concentration and understanding of probabilities. Set a limit on time and bet amount before starting a session. Do not try to chase losses by increasing your bet — this leads to even greater losses. If the game stops being entertainment and causes stress, take a break or use self-exclusion tools.
