Live Betting and Broadcast Delay

Live betting allows wagers during the match, but official streams on Twitch, YouTube, or tournament sites often run 10–30 seconds behind real-time gameplay. This means that by the time you see an important event on screen (such as a bombsite take in CS2 or a key hero kill in Dota 2), the bookmaker may have already changed the odds or temporarily suspended betting. Attempting to bet based on delayed information can result in rejection of the wager or cancellation under the operator's rules.

Bet Calculation Example

For example, you bet 1,000 hryvnias on team A to win a BO3 match at 1.75 odds. If team A wins the match 2:0 or 2:1, your payout will be 1,000 × 1.75 = 1,750 hryvnias. Net profit is 750 hryvnias. If team A loses, you lose 1,000 hryvnias. The odds reflect the bookmaker's assessment: the lower they are, the higher the probability of the event in the operator's view.

If you bet 500 hryvnias on over 2.5 maps in a BO3 match at 2.10 odds, and the match ends 2:1, three maps were played—the bet wins, and you receive 500 × 2.10 = 1,050 hryvnias (550 hryvnias profit). If the match ends 2:0, two maps were played—the bet loses.

Common Beginner Mistakes

Beginners often bet on their favorite team without considering current form, roster, and tournament format. Emotional attachment to a brand is no substitute for analysis. Another mistake is betting on a favorite with low odds in BO1: the format is unpredictable, and potential profit doesn't justify the risk. Don't increase your stake after a loss in an attempt to chase losses quickly—that's a path to losing budget control.

Ignoring settlement rules also leads to disappointment: in some cases, the bookmaker may void a bet (for example, if a match is not completed or replayed), in others—settle based on the actual result at the time of stoppage. Legality of Esports Betting in Ukraine

Law No. 768-IX of July 14, 2020 legalized the gambling market in Ukraine, including online sports and esports betting. Since April 1, 2025, regulatory functions are performed by the State Agency of Ukraine "PlayCity," under the Ministry of Digital Transformation. PlayCity maintains a public registry of licensees, which as of December 2025 lists over 30 online casinos; bookmakers can also obtain a license under the same conditions. Licensees are required to accept bets only from persons over 21 years of age with full identification, conduct transactions exclusively through bank accounts, and comply with responsible gambling requirements.

SpinBetter, Pinnacle, Slotoro, and Unibet from the site's ranking do not have a PlayCity license and are considered unlicensed in Ukraine. Their sites are subject to blocking, and the player receives no protection from the Ukrainian regulator. According to the head of PlayCity (July 2026), the agency has blocked over 9,500 illegal sites and mirrors. In a dispute with an unlicensed operator, Ukrainian regulator protection mechanisms are unavailable, and the effectiveness of complaints to offshore regulators (Curaçao, Anjouan) is lower compared to EU regulators. Responsible Gambling

The law requires licensed operators to implement responsible gambling tools: spending limits, mandatory breaks, prohibition of credit betting. If you feel you are losing control, submit a self-exclusion request on the State Agency of Ukraine "PlayCity" website (with a qualified electronic signature) or in person. Exclusion lasts from 6 months to 3 years and cannot be withdrawn early. First-degree relatives can submit a request for temporary restriction of your participation. Licensed operators are required to check the registry and not allow such persons to gamble.
